Stall Street Journal – Entry #10

                                                   News and Notes

Some newsworthy updates this week on runners associated with the farm:

2/24: With blinkers on for the first time, Pencil Papers wins her maiden wire-to-wire by 7 ¼ lengths under jockey Julissa Laredo. Bred by Paul Giacopelli MD and Raymond Chan, this three year old by Doneraile Court out of Quietly Elegant (Quiet American) was foaled, raised and sold by McMahon Farm. She is owned by longtime client and good guy, John Forma.

  • 3/2: Sunny Desert (Wild Desert) was a “bang-up” third in the Grade II $200K Top Flight Handicap, pushing her earnings to $331,750. This is the second foal and second stakes horse out of the Louis Quatorze mare Hoping For Sun. With a record of 6-3-1 from 12 starts, Sunny Desert was foaled on the farm and bred by Breed of Characters, LLC.
  • 3/2: You Look Mahvelous (Utopia) finished third after a troubled start in her $52MSW career debut for Four Tags Stable. She looks like a promising sort for trainer Jason Servis.
  • 3/3: Utopia’s Imaginary Island broke his maiden in a game effort running down a loose speed horse at 6F. He was bred by Michael Lauer and Ralph Piercey. He looks like he is still learning the game and we like what we see. (Note: You Tarzan, another Utopia sophomore, finished a rallying third in this race.)
  • 3/5: Teuflesberg’s Trinniberg had his fourth workout (4F in 47.86) in preparation for $2 million The Golden Shaheen in Dubai later this month.
