Stall Street Journal – Entry #17

A smooth running, well oiled machine.

That is what we like to think McMahon Thoroughbreds of Saratoga resembles when it comes to efficiency, teamwork, communication, expert care and energy.

It isn’t always easy, either. We’ve had over six dozen foals born this season thus far....at odd times, in frigid temperatures, and from a variety of birthing presentations. Mares ship in from all over the country, around the clock – with varying dispositions and in all different condition levels. Stallions need to be primed for their duties...but not too primed. Facilities are maintained to foster good health and appeal to the eye. Communication is seamless among dozens of farm employees and hundreds of clients.

It’s fun and exciting. It also can be anxiety provoking. Each foaling and breeding is so crucial to so many...and so much can go wrong. Due to our experience, preparation, and expertise, however, it’s most always smooth sailing. This work is our livelihood and we have terrific handlers in all corners of the farm. This makes it not only reassuring, but neat to watch.

Horse and human well being...your success....helping the industry....enjoying the lifestyle....these are our priorities here at McMahon Thoroughbreds of Saratoga. Call us if you have any questions regarding our practices and experience. We think it will definitely increase your comfort level and enthusiasm.

First place finishes on the track this week include:

  • -4/14 – Nofinancingneeded, a four year old Teuflesberg gelding won a six furlong sprint at Parx by 6 ¾ lengths to increase total earnings to $53, 900 for owner/trainer John Loyle. Bred by Green Hill Farm LLC, it was the second win for this swift competitor.
