Stall Street Journal – Entry #30

The 150th anniversary of The Saratoga Racecourse is upon us and the excitement is palpable. The numerous special events add a level of excitement that will make this season even more special than normal. If you have a chance to come for a visit, this may be the year to do it.

Speaking of highlights, for us, August 10th and 11th are the apex of excitement, as these are the dates of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York Bred sale. Throughout the two evenings at the Fasig-Tipton pavilion, some 300 select New York bred yearlings will be offered.

McMahon Thoroughbreds of Saratoga is proud to represent twenty top-notch yearlings at this boutique sale. The list of our consignment is as follows:

  • -205: b.c., Freud/Unbridled Valor

We believe that this is quite a strong group. Each horse has been prepped carefully and we think each will be appreciated by discerning buyers. New York stock is probably a better investment than ever, as opportunities are substantial and purses are at an all-time high ($75,000 for a NYB Maiden Special Weight race at Saratoga!)

The Saratoga Sale of Select Yearlings will occur on Monday and Tuesday, August 5th and 6th at 7PM in the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion on East Avenue. It is here that the some of the world’s best racehorses ever to run have been sold. McMahon Thoroughbreds has two very appealing prospects in this sale, as well. Here is a quick overview:

  • -93: dkb/b.c., Exchange Rate/Miss Bodine. This handsome colt is out of a young stakes placed winning dam by a very successful Kentucky stallion. He has an early February foaling date. He is a registered New York bred and Breeder’s Cup nominated.
  • -99: b.c., Majestic Warrior/One wise Cowgirl. This March colt “fills the eye.” From a black-type family, he is by a very hot young stallion. He is a registered New York bred and Breeder’s Cup nominated.

Sales, sales and more sales…. McMahon Thoroughbreds has a few nice TWO YEAR OLD prospects in training right here at Saratoga. They are for sale, and can actually be racing at THIS SARATOGA MEET. The upside potential and timing for this scenario should be exciting for many interested in getting involved in horse racing, who may be a bit less patient than the typical yearling buyer.

If you would like to see or discuss ANY of these young prospects, please let us know and we will provide honest and thorough insight that should help you with your decision-making. Thanks for your consideration…see you at the sales!
