Stall Street Journal – Entry #32

The statistics made it perfectly clear. The 2013 Saratoga Sales were a tremendous success. Everything from the ambience, weather, foot traffic, and gorgeous horses to the prices, buy back rate, new purchasers and overall respect and appreciation for the New York bred demonstrated that this is (finally) a very healthy, vigorous market and a good time for New York breeders and horsemen alike.

Our team did an outstanding job with all the preparation, as the entire consignment was well received. The following provides a list of our results:

More Sales!

The OBS sale (8/20 -22) in Florida is but a week away and McMahon’s of Saratoga Thoroughbreds has a small consignment (Barn 3) including the following yearlings:

  • -#343 Tiago/Traipse colt
  • -#547 Touch Gold/Devilishly Sly colt
  • -#583 Alphabet Soup/Focus Curiosity colt
  • -#607 Catienus/Gala Regatta colt

    Back at the track!

Our stallions progeny continue to perform well. We are especially proud of the following race horses:

  • -Alpha Bettor (ALPHABET SOUP) – The repeat winner of the Grade 3 Seagram Cup at Woodbine. His career earnings now surpass $545,000.
  • -Marvin’s Miracle (COSMONAUT) – The gray colt was COSMONAUT’S first winner. He won the $75K 1 1/16 MSW turf event at Saratoga…just like his dad. The breeder was Flying Zee Stable and the owner is Bacon Stable.
  • -Free Mugatu (UTOPIA) – This two year old first time starter out of Thunder Babe drew away from a tough field to win by four lengths in $70K MSW at Saratoga. It was bred and raised right here, and is owned by Ken Geren.
