                                                    Forty Years in the Making

As many of you know, our new advertising campaign highlights our accomplished stallions and the fact that we’ve been doing this a long time. We are proud of this fact, as longevity in this field is becoming less and less common. Happily, we are here to stay…and positioned to thrive for many years to come.

From a foal crop of one and a one hundred acre Christmas tree farm, McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, LLC now raises around 150 young horses each year on 250 lush acres. From one unheralded Canadian stallion, the brand new stallion barn now houses an eclectic group of eight renowned, classy, handsome prospects. From newlyweds – to parents of five – Joe and Anne are now “empty nesters,” with each of their children heavily involved in this industry. The path has been an amazing one.

“Forty years in the making,” at times, has felt like “Forty years in the mucking!” Weekly mowing, plowing, mechanical breakdowns, disappearing employees, broken fences, broken bones, feeding tons of grain per week, baling hay, storing hay, unwanted critters, prepping exuberant yearlings, weeding, middle of the night foaling and other emergencies, stubborn mares, headstrong stallions, mischievous weanlings, endless laundry, and the never ending piles of manure and hordes of flies….it can be toilsome and exhausting to say the least.

But, we love what we do. The pride of too many a stake winner is etched in our hearts and our heads…and the footprints we have left on our land for over forty years are just too meaningful not to feel an overwhelming sense of fulfillment.

Yup, we are here to stay. Please consider joining in our success and mission of producing quality bloodstock at a cost efficient, historical, beautiful, family owned/operated New York farm. The time is ripe, with New York State offering record purses and fantastic breeders/owners awards.

Let us know if we can help in any way. Good Luck in 2013!
