Inaugural Edition - Stall Street Journal!

Monday, January 21, 2013

Welcome to the inaugural edition of “McMahon of Saratoga – Stall Street Journal.” This column will be posted on our website each week and will highlight goings on at the farm, the racetrack, and New York racing/breeding industry. Additionally, there will be contests, trivia, and more. We think if you check-in weekly, you’ll not only become more knowledgeable about the industry and our operation, but also have some fun.

Happily, McMahon of Saratoga can reflect back on a strong year that our stallions had in 2012. Specifically, our sires are ranked as follows in the New York region:

  • Touch Gold (#5)
  • Utopia (#6)
  • Teuflesberg (#7)
  • Alphabet Soup (#10)
  • Catienus (#11)

We are currently booking matings for 2013 and business is brisk. Also, our stalls are filling up with boarders and the farm is close to capacity. Please call Joe or John McMahon with any questions you may have regarding breeding, boarding, foaling, sales consignments, horses for sale, etc. We are here to assist you.

Horsemen in New York have much to look forward to in 2013….increased purses, escalating owner/breeder incentives, additional racing opportunities for NY Breds and greater value for young sale horses at all venues. In fact, NYRA just announced a SECOND New York Showcase Day with an all NY Bred card and seven stakes races for June 1st of this year at Belmont.

All of us at McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds would like to wish you a happy and healthy New Year…and a very happy birthday to all of our beloved horses. May it be a year filled with anticipation, inspiration, hope and fulfillment for all of our friends in this wonderful industry.
