McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds is proud to announce that Central Banker has been named the 2024 New York Sire of the Year, marking his fourth consecutive title. This achievement underscores his consistent excellence and significant impact on the New York Thoroughbred breeding industry.

2024 Leading Sire in New York

In 2024, Central Banker topped the New York general sire list with $5,436,573 in progeny earnings, narrowly surpassing runner-up Bucchero by $17,717. His progeny total for the year also exceeded each of his individual totals from the previous three seasons, including the $5,391,160 earned from his runners in 2022. He led the state with six stakes winners and 12 stakes horses, along with 150 runners. His average earnings per runner stood at $36,244.


Pedigree & Race Record

Central Banker is a 14-year-old son of Speightstown, a champion sprinter and leading sire known for producing versatile and high-class runners. His dam, Rhum, by Go for Gin, adds stamina and resilience to his lineage. On the racetrack, Central Banker was a graded stakes-winning sprinter, securing victories in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes and the Grade 3 Aristides Stakes. 


Central Banker entered stud at McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds in 2014. Since then, he has consistently produced top-tier progeny, establishing himself as a leading sire in the region. His speed and tenacity on the track have translated into his progeny's success.

Central Banker's offspring have demonstrated remarkable talent and versatility, excelling on both dirt and turf. Notable performers include:

  • Bank Frenzy: Earnings of $293,950 in 2024, winner of the Evan Shipman Handicap and the Alex M. Robb Stakes at Aqueduct. 

  • Morning Matcha: Earnings exceeding $1 million, winner of the Unique Bella Stakes and Mrs. Penny Stakes at Parx Racing. 

  • Light Man: Winner of the Hudson Stakes, earning $268,300 in 2024.

  • Bold Fortune: Winner of the New York Breeders’ Futurity, earning $156,270 in 2024. 

  • Courtly Banker: Winner of the Rick Violette Stakes at Saratoga. 

  • Sunday Girl: Earned $156,270 in 2024, showcasing consistent performance.
