Solomini's Doc Sullivan Shines in the Thunder Rumble Division of the NYSSS, Fillies Shine in Staten Island

ree

Doc Sullivan delivered another standout performance on Saturday at Aqueduct, powering home by 5 1/2 lengths in the $121,250 Thunder Rumble division of the New York Stallion Stakes Series. Backed down to 7-10 odds, the son of Solomini showed professionalism and speed every step of the way.

Trained by John Ortiz and ridden by Hall of Famer Joel Rosario, the dark bay 4-year-old colt pressed pacesetter Dr. Kraft early before asserting his superiority turning for home. He drew off with authority, completing the 7 furlongs in 1:22.31 over a sloppy and sealed track. Bank Frenzy finished third.

The win marked his third career stakes victory, adding to seven-furlong scores in last year’s Mike Lee and the John Morrissey at Saratoga. Doc Sullivan now boasts a strong record of 6-6-2 in 19 starts with $657,840 in earnings, continuing to reward the team behind him.

Bred in New York by Seamus Coughlan, Doc Sullivan is out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Queen Frostine. He was purchased for $59,000 by agent Joseph Brocklebank for Glen Lostritto’s Tristar Farm from Omar Ramirez Bloodstock at the 2023 OBS June 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale.

Solomini’s Fillies Make An Impact

Solomini was also well represented in the Staten Island division of the NYSS, with his daughters Soloshot finishing second and Intentious finishing third. Both fillies delivered big efforts, adding to a strong showcase for their sire on the day.
