Solomini continues to build momentum as a sire, adding a new stakes winner to his record as his son National Identity delivered a commanding gate-to-wire victory in Saturday’s $135,000 Say Florida Sandy Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Owned by Reeves Thoroughbred Racing and trained by Danny Gargan, the 4-year-old powered home under Kendrick Carmouche to win by 1 3/4 lengths, securing his fourth consecutive victory and his first career stakes win. The performance pushed his lifetime earnings to $433,800 and further solidified his standing among leading older New York-breds.

Bred by Hunter Valley Farm, National Identity is by Solomini out of Cheyenne Autumn, by Indian Charlie. He was purchased for $150,000 at the Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearling Sale, where he was consigned by Hunter Valley Farm on behalf of the breeder. The colt has now hit the board in all 10 career starts, compiling a record of 5 wins, 3 seconds, and 2 thirds.

Installed as the 7-5 favorite in the field of seven, National Identity broke sharply and emerged from an early four-way battle for the lead before taking control through fractions of :23.41 and :46.97. Turning for home, he drew clear in the stretch to stop the clock in 1:24.80 over the fast track. Acoustic Ave finished second, followed by Quick to Accuse.

The victory capped a four-race win streak that included an open allowance win at Aqueduct in January before stepping forward in stakes company.
